Solihull Municipal Club held its inaugural opening ceremony on 14th May 1958, starting its life as a club for the officers and staff of Solihull Council. Volunteer club members erected the original clubhouse from whatever materials could be found that, on completion, resembled a wooden cricket pavilion. From such inauspicious beginnings, the club has grown and flourished over the years culminating in the demolition of the Members Lounge in 1998 and the building of a new clubhouse having two well-appointed Lounges and a new snooker room.

The continued successful progress of the club since then has enabled both the Members Lounge, and the Function Room to be completely refurbished during 2005, at a cost of approximately £70,000. This has resulted in a warm and inviting venue for members, their families & friends to enjoy social and recreational facilities, and a sumptuous Function Room. Having a capacity for up to 200 persons, in which to hold family parties and celebrations and other less formal events.

The Club's facilities are also available during the daytime to local businesses for meetings, seminars, training sessions etc, subject to availability & requirements, at very reasonable rates.

The ethos of the club is summed up by a plaque at the entrance that reads, “There are no strangers here, only friends we have yet to meet”.

The two club bars have a wide range of quality draught beers & lagers, wines, & spirits at very competitive prices, and the two Lounges are provided with a 34” LCD screen and giant 55” Plasma screen TV for sporting events. A large well-lighted car park ensures safe off-road parking for members & visitors.

Fees are a reasonable £25 per annum per person for Associate membership and £12 per annum for Council Staff membership.
